About Me

Hello! I'm Sarah, a fine artist based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I studied Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, and now make art as much as I can alongside my part time job. My work spans across a range of styles, and I am constantly finding new materials and techniques to try out.

With a lifelong love of nature and a fascination for the vast diversity within Scotland’s wildlife, I use my art practice to celebrate as many of our native species as I can, whether that’s a tiny snail, a soaring seabird, or a magnificent stag. My wildlife illustrations take the form of miniature watercolour paintings of individual species as well as larger compositions. I love connecting with people through a shared love of wildlife and it is so fun to see people find their favourite animal in my art.

Within my creative practice I also paint larger works in oils which are often centred around exploring personal experiences. Drawing upon mythology, folklore, and symbolism, I use my art to process complex emotions and build new narratives. With a love of colour and storytelling, my paintings are a vibrant exploration of self and interactions with the wider world. For me, art is a way of communicating with an honesty and authenticity that cannot be achieved through words. It is its own intricate language full of truth, emotion and curiosity. One which I cannot live without.

I continue to expand my skillset whenever possible and have an endless list of ideas I can't wait to try. Linoprinting is my newest endevour and one which is proving to be very addictive. My art is ever-changing and expanding, and I'm excited to see where it takes me!
